polish or Wax?
- The two most regular questions asked about the exterior paintwork on a car are "Wax" or "Polish" and whats the difference?
- What is a wax? A wax is derived from a natural source ie Carnuba, bees wax etc.
- They are not soluble in water
- They can resist high and low temperatures
- They are hard waxes in natural form , but can be mixed with other ingrediants to make them more usable and able to be applied to a car's paintwork
- The natural properties of these waxes is what makes them good for use in car waxes.
- What is a polish? Unlike waxes a car polish uses an abrasive action that remove fine layers of the top coat protection to ensure a smooth surface and ensures an equal reflection of light to produce a polished look
- If using a car polish it is best to cover the finshed car with a hard wax protection to prevent the oils and fillers appied with the polish being washed away, requiring a recoat of the polish
